Meaningful tools and materials to support women in their cancer journey and the vital role men play in being there for them.
Men Supporting Women With Cancer (MSWWC) offers meaningful tools and materials to support women in their cancer journey and the critical role men play being there for the women they love as they navigate the crisis of cancer together.
To develop these tools we continually work with a variety of internationally recognized experts specializing in aspects of coping with cancer, leading medical facilities, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and corporate partners.
Partners in Survival™
The Partners in Survival™ (Partners) program is the centerpiece of all MSWWC programs and materials. These half- to full-day educational workshops help men navigate the crisis of breast cancer when it strikes the women they love. The goal of Partners is to improve the quality of patient survivorship by teaching men proven problem-solving techniques that focus on the needs of the cancer patient and family. Partners creates a unique, male-friendly learning environment that provides men with educational and psychosocial support programs that are practical, easy-to-understand, and based on the most current scientific research.
The Cope Method
The program focuses on teaching men a scientifically proven problem-solving method: Creativity, Optimism, Planning, and Expert information (COPE). The C.O.P.E. method has been shown to increase quality of life and to decrease distress (anxiety and depression) in cancer patients and their families.
Program Objectives
The Partners program activities concentrate on empowering men and women to get the best from each other by working together towards a common goal and solving complex and emotionally laden problems – a process called gender synergy.
The Partners program accomplishes several goals:
- Directly improve cancer patients’ quality of life and survival rates by educating and supporting the men in their lives.
- Help men to be more effective caregivers through education and empowerment.
- Increase participants’ knowledge of breast cancer, treatment, available resources, and life after treatment.
- Develop support systems for men dealing with similar circumstances.
- Provide ongoing resources and materials to participants.
How to Get Started

Caregiver Coaching
One on one coaching for the patient and caregiver offered virtually or in person to discuss your situation, get a better understanding of what works, and doesn’t work for you and your personal situation and with your family.
Together, set-up a plan to help improve communication as well as aide in improving the confidence level of the caregiver to help him be there for the woman he loves.
Together we will explore and understand a practical approach that works for your unique situation incorporating the principles of the C.O.P.E method of problem solving used in our Partners in SurvivalTM Program to navigate the crisis of cancer.
Each session is 45 minutes and is designed to meet each family’s needs.
Caregiver Toolkit for Men
Our newest innovation, The Caregivers Toolkit for Men, is designed to engage men when they are the most vulnerable – at the time the woman he loves is diagnosed with cancer.
The Toolkits provide men with helpful information on what is needed to be an educated and empowered caregiver. Each Toolkit is comprised of a 3-ring zippered binder to hold all reports, results, imagining CD’s, our signature caregiving book and a new 30-page booklet on what to expect and what you can do to be a helpful caregiver. The Toolkits are distributed at hospitals, healthcare facilities, and MSWWC’s website at no charge to patients.

Caregiver Navigator
Develop a network and/or enhance your current network to get the support you need as a caregiver at the time of diagnosis, so you are actively engaged at the beginning of your journey.
“Partners in Survival™ creates a unique opportunity for women and men to identify and maximize their inherent strengths. But the real magic of the program is the active problem-solving that men and women do together to create a space where respect, honesty, communication, and connection makes the work sacred.”
